I realize there's a tradeoff here. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. This

Its not timed, so I don't think its a problem.  Does it cause flickering on
double buffered platforms?  If so, then we probably do want a flag.

It shouldn't cause any more flicker, since you're just presenting an extra white
frame. All it would do is make the white flash last 50% longer after tearing
down a context.
