you could try to be smart about the branch name and only cc yourself if it's
[0-9]+\.[0-0]+

otherwise you'll also see all cherry picks to trunk

That's fine :) I guess skipping those in email client will take less time than
adding this logic to tests.

Not sure why the tests passed. I would have assumed you need a default for cc
here, e.g.:
options.cc = None

The upload step is currently maybe only used by merge_to_branch.
