The author string is a name and email address (often a @chromium.org), right?
It's not necessarily linked to anyone else's github account?

I'm wondering what this will look like in the github UI...

Yes, that's a good point. But if you add your @chromium.org email address to
your GitHub account, it should show up as you. We should experiment with what it
looks like in the UI. Regardless, in the body of the commit message there will
be a valid contact email address.
