Carl, any reason why this was not caught during the build? Shouldn't the      
PRINTF_ATTRIBUTE(3, 4) on OS::SNPrint catch issues like these?

Only format control string literals are checked.

Consider the following example

  1 #include <stdio.h>
  2 int main(int argc, char** argv) {
  3   const char* fmt = "%s";
  4   printf(fmt, 9);
  5   printf("%s", 9);
  6   return 0;
  7 }

Here is what the compiler says after being invoked with -Wformat=2

  test.c:4:3: warning: format not a string literal, argument types not checked

  test.c:5:17: warning: format ‘%s’ expects argument of type ‘char*’, but
