This is called with an (explicit) undefined argument sometimes. That doesn't
work correctly, i.e. isn't treated same as missing, without a default value.
Hence adding a default value.

Also, made nullable so that the default value is valid.

Made nullable since null was assigned in the layout test that uses this
interface.

(Without linux_blink_dbg on the CQ, these tests won't be run, I think; the
corresponding private script code is #ifdef NDEBUG.)
