This is lower-maintenance than using the generic config name on the buildbot
side, since changes there would require a master restart.

Not sure I follow. Why can't we just run this as "arm_v7_thumb".

We can.  But if we ever decide to change which config it's using (eg. if we want
some special settings) then we have to make that change in buildbot code which
requires a master restart.  It's lower-maintenance to just go ahead and add the
"logan" alias.
