I'm offline, so I can't see the rest. Does send request assume a ?Uint8Array? If
so, should it handle views too?

According to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/XMLHttpRequest,
send() accepts an ArrayBufferView, but not an ArrayBuffer (no longer accepted).
Since the message event returns an ArrayBuffer, it needs to be converted.
