Does pub allow the version to be the empty string?  It looks strange.

I would think we should just remove this line until async_helper has been
published.

It does allow it to be empty; it's the same as 'any'. Agree that it looks odd :)

Perhaps replace with a TODO. I think - since this is in the dependencies section
- clients of analyzer won't be able to resolve it, since they wouldn't be able
to find async_helper.
