It should never happen, right?
Not even with invalid code.
I guess it's to late now, but maybe we should start marking such checks somehow
to clean up them later.

I'm not sure. I'd have to look at the code that generates the error, but it's
possible that we're not checking for some condition that can occur (such as a
top-level function without a body, though I tried reproducing with that case and
couldn't) and generating the error when we shouldn't be. I wasn't able to
reproduce the bug, hence the stop-gap measure.
