Uh, is this a clarification or did someone revise the histogram recording?

If the former, this looks good.
If the latter, I tend to prefer users marked the old histogram as obsolete and
record the new value in a new histogram.

The underlying implementation of the function changed about 5 months ago. So I
don't see much use in changing the histogram name now -- though it maybe should
have been changed back then.

Back then, yeah, we probably should have.  You're right that it's probably too
late now.
But perhaps you can say in the histogram description that the meaning of the
histogram changed substantially at M-XX.
