Is this an issue with the material styles in general, i.e. is there a bug you
should file upstream, or just how we are using them?

The issue here is how we're currently using them. However, I'm looking at the
guidelines and the disabled text examples seem like they won't pass the audit
either. I'll chat with Jonny about it on Monday.
