As I said on the bug, I am not sure if that is indeed the same issue, or if
some of the newly introduced leaks are actually leaks. I'll leave that to
people who actually know the design to figure out :)

(I also happen to think that "leaks by design" is valid for production code
during shutdown, but _never_ for testing code. But that's a larger
discussion)
