It looks like on mac, the compositor sometimes asks for frames while the page is
hidden.  I suspect this might be a race condition (visibility changed on the
main thread, but compositor does not know yet and ask for a layer update). Was
not able to repro in a local build. This fix will simply cancel the update when
the state is incoherent.
