No dir separator between the drive and path since the documentation says:

os.path.splitdrive(path)
Split the pathname path into a pair (drive, tail) where drive is either a drive
specification or the empty string. On systems which do not use drive
specifications, drive will always be the empty string. In all cases, drive +
tail will be the same as path.

I tried on Windows, and os.path.splitdrive('C:\klas\ola') yields (r'C:',
r'\\klas\\ola'). You still need to get rid of the : from the drive. Just do
drive.lower()[0] on line 33. Also you don't need the drive.lower on line 34.
