why not '<(component)' ?

I'm not actually clear on the functional difference.  When I switched to
'<(component)', I got the following link errors:

quirks_client.cc:118: error: undefined reference to
'net::URLFetcherDelegate::~URLFetcherDelegate()'
quirks_client.cc:174: error: undefined reference to
'GURL::GURL(base::BasicStringPiece<std::string>)'
quirks_client.cc:174: error: undefined reference to
'net::URLFetcher::Create(GURL const&, ...)'
quirks_client.cc:174: error: undefined reference to 'GURL::~GURL()'

Should I switch to '<(component)' and try to fix those errors?
