I'm a bit surprised not to see any changes to appsv2.patch, since you want to do
something different in appsv2 mode. Does appsv2.patch still apply cleanly after
this change?

I'll update the patch to apply cleanly once the rest of the code is final.
There's no logic that depends specifically on appsv2 - the different behavior is
based on whether the identity API is available or not, and it tests for that
where appropriate.
