^ considering this is right below `initialize`, this comment either a) isn't
necessary, or b) should probably say something more along the lines of "Decorate
the tab box", but even that is pretty self-evident

Instead of writing a permissions overlay ui, I reused the permissions dialog
supported by apis directly.
