Can we just rename the data_offset member "reserved" to prevent use and simplify
things? We'd probably want to combine this with a CDM_4 or something anyway.

We can do that. But when are we going to drop the "reserved" field? I thought
this is a good chance since we haven't shipped anything in CDM_3 yet. When we
drop CDM1 and CDM2, all the complexity will just go away.

We can also do this in CDM_4, but I thought this is trivial enough that it
doesn't worth the hassle...
