Why make a new bug? Shouldn't issue 7722 cover it? You can comment on it with
updates about what you've learned since then and what needs to be done to fix it
(native call, etc)

I was treating 7722 as being about fixing the test failure, and going to close
it with deleting the test and the associated code, but creating a new one as an
enhancement request to track being able to do something better. But if it's
better I can just modify it instead. But I did already create the new one
(8110).

I suppose it's a matter of style. Personally, I like to have the full history
behind an issue, but if you prefer to keep the items separated that's fine.
