I agree, why remove this? I've been using this since I started using Chrome and
it's incredibly useful. I mean okay, sure, maybe you don't want too many buttons
in Chrome or whatever. But why not leave it hidden under the switch for the
people who do want to use it?

Please put this feature back. The one downside to Chrome on Windows is that a
bookmark menu does not exist. The bookmark bar is not a substitute as that eats
up valuable screen space for people using small screens.

Please revert this change. This was a very popular feature and  a necessity for
many.

Frankly, not only should this be reverted, but it should be added to the Options
dialogue.

In this case, the removal was agreed upon by a couple different UI leads and
isn't going to be reverted.  I already posted comments on a few bugs in our
database about the way we would consider exposing this in the future (as a
"Bookmarks" item in the new unified menu), and there's also some work ongoing on
an extension sidebar which would allow for bookmarks sidebar extensions and
similar, so there are a couple ways this use case may get met in the future.

ME). Do not be the only browser without a bookmarks menu and make us resort to
an extension. PLEASE keep the bookmark drop down menu!

Well why not keep this here until a new method is ready? You could at least
explain the reasoning behind removing this.

I agree, we should have the option to have the bookmark menu available until
another method is ready. Because of not being able to use the bookmark menu, I
had to install an extension to do the same thing the bookmarks menu did, but I
still have the same amount of icons in the bar. Other users will probably do the
same thing as me, so why not just keep this method available.

was this a UI decision? Anyone who added the button (since it was NOT a default
option, it took manual effort for all of us to turn it on) obviously felt like
it SHOULD be part of our UI or we would not have gone through effort to update
our command line. So you had several people decide with you that we were wrong
and we DID NOT want it to be apart of our User Interface? That seems like broken
logic to me. Must have been a quick decision made by a small group of people
that did not have any of the facts of the issue.

Is Peter Kasting joking??? should I open a menu and then a submenu just to click
a bookmark?? i mean this is a browser and it's primary function should be
launching bookmarks....this is the stupidest thing that has happened to me since
I started using a computer. Now I have to use a chunk of screen space for the

This is not an appropriate place to debate this change.  As noted above, these
sorts of comments should be on the thread about this issue on
chromium-discuss@chromium.org.  Code review comments are for technical
discussion about the guts of a patch.

Looks like I'll be going back to Firefox until this much needed feature is
