Please document why you need this sleep.  Also, will that reason scale to faster
machines (i.e. is the required sleep time dependent upon the processor speed?) 
If so, they I'd strongly recommend finding a different way to achieve your
result (e.g. locking, events, signals), as that makes for fragile code.
