LGTM

Not for this CL, but could you try using the json_schema_compiler? It will help
clean up the API functions, so you don't need all that validation code. Just add
your .json file to:
http://code.google.com/searchframe#OAMlx_jo-ck/src/chrome/common/extensions/a...

The compiler generates C++ data types that mirror the API types defined in your
.json file. See
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/source/search?q=alarms_api.cc&origq=alarms_...
for an example of how to code to it.
